Here’s what happens:
The magician displays a playing card on top of the deck. They tear the corner of the playing card, leaving it displayed on the deck, and then place the playing card in their pocket. The magician then picks up the torn corner off the deck and gives it a shake. The torn corner then visibly transforms into the playing card that is still missing its corner. The magician then reaches into their pocket and produces the torn corner, which matches the newly appeared playing card perfectly.
